A great and must read article: el camino for sale

Q: Does anyone have an El Camino for sale? Do you like them as much as I?
You seem like you didn’t know Tjat the El Camino was made from 1957 until 1987? But thanks

A: I just sold a 64 model with a beautiful body for a grand and have a 73 model I’ll sell cheap if you’re interested. I’ll take $700 for the rolling body if you’re interested. It has already had the tailgate outside handle shaved and put inside. Has a super body and clear KY title.
Thanks,
Craig

Q: were can i get an el camino for sale at a dealship in houston texas?
or tomball texas under 3000 dollars

A: They have not made the El Camino since 1987 and only a classic car dealer would have a car like that. Most dealers only sell cars and trucks that are about 10 years old or newer. Nearly all dealers do not want to be bothered with old junkers. Go to hemmings.com and you will find 57 of them for sale. A nice restored El Camino will run a lot of money but there are some original cars from the 1980s in rough condition in that price range

A: There are two excellent places to sell a car like your 1980 El Camino.

One is: www.hemmings.com

This is the biggest sales market for classic, near classic and classic project cars. Yours sounds like it would make a great project and that it would be well worth the buyer’s time and money to continue with your project.

At present there are 97 El Caminos listed on Hemmings.

It is where everyone goes when they are looking for a solid, worthwhile project car.

The other excellent site is:
www.chooseyouritem.com

They have about 80 El Caminos for sale in various stages of restoration.

Both of these would be great sites to use to get the right kind of exposure for your car.

Again it sounds like a great project.

Q: Custom El Camino In Iowa?
So about a year ago there was this gorgeous custom el camino for sale in my town here in iowa. I fell in love with the thing but it was wayy out of my price range. one owner. near mint. It was gold with a conquista decal painted on the sides in the back. I’m desperate to find the person who bought the car or find the seller.. atleast to see the car one more time. I’m not exactly sure on the year but I’m thiking somewhere between 1978 and 1984. I had the sellers number but I broke my phone =[. If you have any information on where the love of my life might be I would be so grateful! thanx.
I guess the car itself is more a bronze color with gold accents and a gold decal. thanx for ur help!
***of a bronze color

A: Hi, a good way of tracking down vintage cars or bikes is user clubs they have the resources to help buyers such has your self. I have used user clubs in Europe to track down vintage bikes or part to very good effect

Also, im 16 going on 17, im in no rush to fix it up. But once it is, i want to be able to keep it for a long long time.

A: Cool truck, you’ll enjoy it. You’ve hit a number of the items you need to deal with. I’d bet the exhaust may need replacing, especially after sitting for many years. Moisture comes up through the floor (even concrete) and will rust things underneath. Give the chassis a good lube. Check for mice or other critters, especially in the exhaust or air filter housing. Mice or other critters could have gotten inside as well – especially in the heater or A/C. Drain the gas tank and fuel system. Use some form of carburetor cleaner to get the gunk out of the tank and lines. The carburetor and fuel pump may be gummed up as well and may need a rebuild. Seals and gaskets can dry out over time of no use so keep an eye out for leaks. Hoses, especially vacuum hoses, can crack and leak, so replace the small hoses too. Flush the radiator and heater coil as they could be sludged up. When you go to start it the first time, pull the coil wire off and turn the engine over for a minute to get lubrication in the whole motor. Pulling the plugs and putting a squirt of oil in each cylinder is a good idea. Put in new spark pugs when you do this The brakes may be stuck, check first. Flushing the brake fluid is a good idea after that much time. Check the master cylinder for fluid and/or rust. Check the brake hoses for cracking or separation. You may need to replace brake calipers, cylinders, master cylinder or brake hoses. Check the shocks to see if the piston rods have rusted or leaked, if so you may need to replace them. That’s all I can think of for now. Have fun!!

Q: Opinion and Questions on ‘77 El Camino?
Looking to buy a 1977 Chevrolet El Camino SS on sale by a local guy. It has the 350 engine with 4 barrel carb, and automatic transmission. Its in fair condition with a few spots of rust and in need of a new interior. What do you think of the car in general, and what would be a rough price range for something like this? Any help would be appriciated.

P.S. does anybody know what model transmission one of these would have?

A: Click on the link below for a price. Tranny would be TH 350. Very common for the time. It’s a cool vehicle, but not that interesting or collectible. That era of cars were so choked with emission controls, they just barely made enough HP to get out their own way.

Q: El Camino or Nova for Sale?
I am looking in peticular for these cars, and hoping to be in Oregon, if you have any info for a car, please answer my Q!

A: I have owned an El Co’ for 18 years! Great car if you like to do your own maintenance. Safe because they are heavy, but crappy mileage. Also, El Co’s cannot carry many people (but a bed for cargo). Both have huge support for parts. They are not “real” classics, but each has its own loyal following. I know this is not really what you asked, but may help on deciding which to buy! Laters…

Q: any one have a solid ‘66 El Camino bed floor for sale?

A: Yea

Q: What is required to register a vehicle in Canada that is from U.S.A. and 25 years old?
I live in Alberta and I found a 1983 Chevrolet El Camino for sale, the owner drove it to Canada, but never got it registered. So what do I need to do to register this vehicle in Alberta.
I was told he has a vehicle import form from transport Canada, and he gave me the number of the form.

A: Ask if he established ownership in Canada. If not, the import documents were never filed. He would need to give you the K-22, or whatever equivalent form was issued at the border at the time he crossed, as well as a bill of sale, and the US title. Otherwise, the vehicle is actually in Canada illegally, and attempting to register it may get it ordered out of Canada. If he was living in any province besides Alberta at the time he drove it up, there may be sales tax owing on the value at the time of import. If he has a Canadian ownership document, then it means he did turn the paperwork in properly, and you can take the ownership document and bill of sale and get it registered.
Check it out carefully.
As far as the other answer from Manitoba goes, it is WRONG! I am a licenced insurance broker, vehicle registrations agent, and driver licence issuer in Manitoba, and have handled imported vehicles.

Q: Im looking to buy Tail gate upper and lower molding for an 82 el camino. Does anyone have these parts for sale?

A: Try www.classicindustries.com www.yearone.com www.opgi.com www.goodmarkindustries.com or your Chevy dealer’s parts department vintage parts catalog.

Q: What should I do to get a good used car?
My old car is officially down for the count, so I’m looking for a new car. What are some tips on finding a good new car? I’m on a tight budget, at max I might reach $3,000 if my parents match my money before I need the car.
Where should I look, and what are some tips to see if it’s a good deal, or if there’s something they aren’t telling me? Also if you know a site whre I can search for some specifics I’d like to see it.
Also, any good car choices? I want a stick, but I’ll take an automatic and I want a car, but I’ll take a truck. Other than that all I really care about is that it’s pretty fast, and accelerates well. I know all the obvious ones, camaro, mustang etc., I’m asking for original ones.
If you have an El Camino for sale in Kansas e-mail me, it’s my dream car!

A: It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: Whats a good website to look at used cars for sale?
Whats a good website to look at used cars for sale?
im looking for a 1983 el camino or a cobalt or something just a wedsite that has a variety of cars

A: You have to pay to get access to the sites that Avonlee mentioned.

The best sites I’ve found are www.autotrader.com and Google Base which is at www.google.com/base.

I hate Craig’s list because I’ve encountered two people who have tried to scam me on that web site.

You can also check out Ebay Motors!
