Q: Can anyone help my grandson find a transaxle for his truck?
My grandson plans on mounting a engine in the bed of his 1985 toyota pickup because he was more power and better weight distribution.I think it’s a crazy thing to do but I love him and it’s his truck so I’m going to help him by asking for help finding sites that sale heavy-duty manual transaxles that can handle up to 700hp/500 lbs of torque and will fit behind a big block chevy?I guess it has to be short epth that it and the motor fit into a toyota short bed.can anyone help me?
its a 2WD and it sits low to the gound.He never said it needed to be a manual I just thoough it would be easyer to find one if it was.other words it s ok if its a auto but i know he wants it BEHIND the engine not in front.

Your grandson has demanded a ‘TALL ORDER’ There is no one manufacturing something that hasn’t been made yet. He’s got to come up with a plan and fabricate from there. Really,I think if you run 700hp you’re gonna need the whole rear to be re thought.
Before you look for axles you’ll need to decide on whose rear housing and what trans you are going to use.The only reason I responded to this question is nostalgic.
I put a 1972 -500 cubic inch Cadillac Eldorado engine,trans and Frame in the rear of a 1972 Vega station wagon and I almost killed me and half the people at the dragstrip one night.
He’s got a job ahead of him’but it can be done!!
