ford f650 price
I know that XUV is priced around $170,000, and I’m sure the 6 door is not too far behind it.
Also is maintaining it relatively cheap, like maintaining a regular truck, or is it really expensive, like maintaining a Ferrari or something?
Thanks
A: You must be referring to a conversion job I read about in Motor Trend’s Truck Trend. The $170,000.00 estimate you got is not far off–the F650 is a two-ton chassis-cab available from the factory with daycabs, SuperCabs and Crew Cabs, including a Caterpillar/Allison-equipped SuperCrewZer (the six-door conversion, I believe, tacks an additional crew cab rear section to a factory crew cab). Maintaining this monster IS quite expensive, but somewhat short of most Ferraris in this respect; the F650, a SERIOUS work truck, packs huge four-pot disc brakes on its eight-inch-drop I-beam steer axle, plus sixteen-inch drums on the drive axle.
I recommend the Caterpillar C8 ACERT engine for this platform, as it has the best-sized powerband for a truck that pushes a four-ton curb weight; gearboxes include two Allison automatics and several manuals off a 12″ dual-disc clutch (I recommend the Eaton-Fuller FRO12210B five-plus-five speed, if available, as it will best handle the C8’s 750+ ft-lb @ 1200 RPM). Be advised that the C8 will take four gallons of API CH-4, SAE 15W-40, at an oil change (the Cummins ISB6.7c takes three, as I know from experience with a Cummins 6BTA5.9-equipped Dodge BE2500).
